Yoga students need
to book and pay in advance for the whole term, although you can start
at any time during the term and the fee will be pro-rated. For the occasional
'drop-in' the fee will be £7.50 per session. Please arrange with
Laura.
Ashtanga Beginners Level I course
will take the beginner Ashtangi through the basic principles of Ashtanga
Vinyasa yoga, as taught by Pattabhi Jois of Mysore. The practice is
only for the healthy and physically fit, preferably with some previous
experience of yoga (any tradition). It is for the serious student seeking
a dynamic physical practice. Modifications will be offered and time
will be given to ensure the proper alignment and safety of a posture.
Once the Primary Series is learned, advancement to Level II can occur.
Pregnancy Yoga is a course specifically
addressing mums-to-be. Depending upon the number enrolled, these classes
will either be held in Laura's home or at a venue to be confirmed. Stretching
whilst strengthening helps to release the pelvic opening in preparation
for childbirth. Toning the pelvic floor allows for a more controlled
birthing, lessens complications and enhances postnatal recovery. Breath
work and relaxation techniques are practised in preparation for labour.
Flexibility and calm ease the birthing process, thus reducing pain and
increasing the joy of giving birth.
Baby Yoga and
Toddler Yoga are designed for you and your little one
to do in partnership with each other. Both classes encourage pre-verbal
communication and enhance your child's physical confidence. Yoga exercises
are intertwined with songs and fun activities. New mums will be able
to work on postnatal exercises and if baby's partner is a dad or grandparent
or nanny, he/she will also benefit from the gentle yoga practice. Early
Years Yoga also teaches carer and child how to relax together! Please
bring a packed lunch for Teddy Bear Picnic at the end of each session!
YogaPilates
is a fusion of Yoga and Pilates, blending the best of both disciplines
into a cohesive practice. Yogilates emphasises core stability training
and introduces yoga breathing and relaxation techniques. It is particularly
beneficial for those suffering from back problems. It is also highly
recommended for the 'gentle years' or for those who are beginning a
recovery process after surgery or childbirth.
Hatha Yoga is
the best known and most widely practised yoga in the West. It is for
all ages and all abilities. This is the course to choose if you are
looking for balance and harmony in your life -- asanas (postures), pranayama
(breathing) and pratyahara (withdrawal from the senses through relaxation)
nurture body, mind and spirit.
One-to-one private sessions are available (see Private
Tuition) if a student feels a couple of refresher lessons
might qualify him/her for the Intermediate Hatha or Level II Ashtanga
Yoga class.
