About Laura:
Laura has been practising Yoga for 30 years, firstly in America and then in Britain since 1988.

During the Yoga for Health Foundation’s Teacher Training course at Ickwell Bury in 1994/95, Laura refined her hatha yoga teaching techniques and delved deeply into the philosophy of yoga.

Laura then intensified her training with the British Wheel of Yoga's 3-year course, and she is a BWY diploma holder and a BWY Foundation Course Tutor.. Additionally, Laura has the British Wheel of Yoga advanced module certificate to teach Pranayama based on the system of Swami Gitananda and she is a BWY Pregnancy Yoga teacher.

Further 'specialty' training has been completed and Laura holds certificates for:-- Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga from Union Yoga, dedicated to the original Mysore tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois; Baby Yoga & Massage from Francoise Freedman's Birthlight programme; Modern Pilates, a course developed by Physiotherapist Christopher Norris, author of "Back Stability" and "Abdominal Training, Enhancing Core Stability". She is also a Remedial Yoga Therapist with the Yoga for Health Foundation.

In addition to a strong emphasis on asana (the postures) and relaxation, Laura’s instruction aims to ‘de-mystify’ the more subtle aspects of pranayama, mantra, meditation, Ayurveda, diet and purification techniques.

Although firmly rooted in the classical hatha yoga tradition of the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Laura’s teaching incorporates methods from recent hatha yoga traditions like Iyengar and Ashtanga Vinyasa (the ‘Power’ Yoga of celebrities Geri Halliwell and Madonna). She has studied Ashtanga with such highly regarded teachers as David Swenson, John Scott, Godfrey Devereux, Radha, Brian Cooper, Nawajyoti and Mike Nevitt; Iyengar with Ruth White; Yoga & Alexander Technique with Angela Thompson, Kundalini with Dr Deenanath Rai; Swami Gitananda’s system of Pranayama with Philip Xerri, Yoga Nidra with Swami Pragyamurti, Ayurveda with Bill Feeney and Shavasana Meditation with Dr Samprasad Vinod.

Above all Laura believes the practice of yoga is an uplifting and joy-filled journey that can become a rewarding way of life.
